If you are unfamiliar with "la dictée", it is a method that some teachers will use to teach reading and writing. In addition to reading and writing, this method helps students develop their listening and speaking skills in French, as well as thinking skills.
Every Monday (or Tuesday if Monday is a holiday), students will learn a new set of syllables and will practice these in different ways throughout the week at school. On Fridays (or Thursday if Friday is a holiday), students will participate in "la dictée", during which they will listen to the syllables and words that are dictated and write them down on paper. This shows each student's learning throughout the week and areas that need improvement and additional practice.
Dictée homework:
On Mondays (or Tuesdays if Monday is a holiday), students will bring home their BLUE DUOTANGS with the dictée words for the week. Their blue duotangs will have a worksheet (the second page) with the syllables/words of the week for them to practice writing. Please help them by playing the recordings provided for the dictée each week, so that they can hear the syllables and words when writing them. The format in the recording will be the exact format that I use during the dictée test on Fridays. It's important that students practice the dictée words a few times a week at home (in addition to school). This will help students strengthen areas that may be a struggle and will help them feel more confident for the test at the end of the week.
**Students need to complete the back of the dictée worksheet in their blue duotang each week and bring the duotang (with the worksheet in it) back to school EVERY THURSDAY please.***
